No points, just flip the shells.
Set up
- Teams: Choose two players or teams.
- Shell Placement: Each side places six coconut shells roughly 10 feet from their opponent.
- Formation: Arrange shells in a triangle or any creative layout.
- Tossing Line: Players must stand behind their front shell when tossing.
- Who Goes First: The first player/team to sink a ball into any shell starts the game.
Scoring & Game Play
Scoring: When a ball lands and rests inside a shell, the opponent flips that shell over.
- Ball Reset: Players must wait until the previous ball is removed and the shell is flipped before tossing again.
- Bounce Outs: If a ball bounces in and out, it doesn’t count—but it remains in play and can be knocked into a shell.
- Double Sink: If both balls are sunk in one turn, the player/team gets (2) balls back and shoots again.
- Shell Collision: If a ball bounces into multiple shells, only one shell is flipped.
- Blocking: No blocking allowed. Let both balls come to rest before retrieval.
- Courtesy Rule: Players may request opponents to smooth out bumps or footprints in the sand.
- No re-racks or rearranging shells during regulation/redemption/overtime.
- Winning: The first player/team to flip all six of their opponent’s shells wins.
First player/team to flip all (6) of their opponent's shells wins
Redemption
- Triggered when only one ball is sunk into the final shell.
- The losing team gets a chance to toss until they miss:
- Must hit the remaining shell on the first toss to stay alive.
- If missed, the game ends.
- If hit, the game enters Overtime.
- No re-racks or rearranging shells during redemption.
Overtime
- Each team flips over their front three shells into a triangle.
- The team that finished regulation first shoots first.
- First to flip all three shells wins—even if the other team hasn’t tossed yet.
- Double Overtime: Use four shells in a diamond pattern (excluding back corners).
- Triple Overtime: Use one front shell—first to sink wins.
- Flip the shells and play again!
